With respect to herbaceous forage production, sample adequacy was not achieved on either the
Tipple Reference Area or the Tipple Reclamation. Since sample adequacy was not achieved for
total herbaceous production with the recommended 30 transects sampled, application of the
reverse null statistical approach documents that the total herbaceous production for the Tipple
reclamation site, the t,,, values (5.2904) in this reclaimed area exceeds the t values (1.311), and
thus, it can be concluded that the total forage production satisfies the revegetation success
standard. With respect to shrub density, sample adequacy was achieved on the Tipple
Reclamation site, and the average shrub density on this site was found to equal 59.61 plants per
100 m2, well above the required standard of 37.06 shrubs per 100 m2 or 1,500 shrubs per acre.
Application of the reverse null statistical approach documents that for the shrub density values
on the Tipple Reclamation, the t. values (2.0716) in this site exceeds the tt values (1.311), and
thus it can be concluded that the shrub density satisfies the revegetation success standard.
It is Kerr Coal's opinion, that all of the 2009 revegetation monitoring data confirm that the
appropriate Phase III Bond Release criteria for all areas sampled have been satisfied.
14
