<br />Snowcap Coal Company, P.O. Box 1430, Palisade, CO, 81526, has submitted a complete
<br />application for a bond release to the Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety for its
<br />Roadside North and South Portals, mining permit No. C-81-041. The permit was originally
<br />approved on January 3, 1983 and renewed on January 3, 2003. The current reclamation
<br />bond value is $2,049,361 and is in the form of a corporate surety bond. This permit action
<br />will release areas from the bond while leaving its current bond dollar amount the same. The
<br />area for which the bond release is being requested is approximately 7288 acres at Snowcap
<br />Coal Company's Roadside North and South Portals.
<br />The areas for which Snowcap Coal Company is requesting released from bond have had no
<br />surface disturbance in regards to mining facilities or structures. Portions of these areas have
<br />been undermined.
<br />The Roadside mines are located approximately three miles northeast of Palisade, CO at the
<br />Interstate 70, Cameo Exit No.46. The permit area is split east and west by the Colorado
<br />River and 1-70, and is encompassed within the following lands:
<br />T10S, R98W., 6th P.M.: Sections 20, 21, 22, 23, 26, 27, 28, 29, 34, 35
<br />T11S, R98W., 6th P.M.: Sections 1, 2, 11, 12, 13, 14
<br />T11 S, R97W., 6th P.M.: Sections 6, 7, 18
<br />T1S, R2E, Ute P.M.: Section 1
<br />The location of these sections is contained within the U.S. Geological Survey 7.5 minute
<br />Cameo and Palisade Quadrangle maps.
<br />A copy of the bond release application is available for public inspection at the Mesa County
<br />Clerk and Recorder's office, 544 Rood, Grand Junction, CO. A copy of the approved permit
<br />application document, as well as the bond release application, are available at the Denver
<br />and Grand Junction offices of the Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety [Room 215,

<br />Junction, CO 81501, (970) 242-5025]. Written comments or objections to the proposed
<br />release, and a request for a public hearing or informal conference may be submitted to and
<br />additional information obtained from the Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety.
<br />Comments, objects or requests for a public hearing or informal conference must be
<br />submitted to the Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety within thirty (30) days of the last
<br />publication of this notice or within thirty (30) days of the completed bond release inspection,
<br />whichever is later.
