Dates Reclamation Work Performed:
June 7, 2007
The underground mine workings at the Roadside North and South Portals were designed
to prevent subsidence damage to the following facilities and structures above the mine:
Ute Water Conservancy District water treatment, storage facility and pipelines; City of
Palisade raw water pipeline system, water treatment and storage facilities; Colorado Ute
Transmission Line; Rapid, Cottonwood, Jerry and Coal Creeks.
1982 - Subsidence cracks were found by property owner on Powder Mountain Ranch
properties, Sections 1 & 2, Township 11 South, Range 98 West of the 6th P.M.
1994 Annual Subsidence Report
January 25. 1994 - Subsidence inspection - Cracks were found at the Roadside South
Mine over the 5 West Panel. These cracks were up to 12 inches wide, 300 ft. long and
20' deep. They were located on a steep hillside covered with alluvial material and slump
blocks from the cliffs above. The cracks were over an area of secondary mining and may
be related to subsidence or may be related to normal landslide activity.
September 14. 1994 - Subsidence inspection - Cracks were found and photographed.
These cracks are approximately 3" wide, 100' long and 5' deep. They were located on
the top of the ridge in a gray shale or silty sandstone. The cracks are over an area of
secondary mining at Roadside South Mine in 10 West and could be related to subsidence
in the area.
1995 Annual Subsidence Report
June 10. 1995 - Subsidence inspection - Subsidence cracks were found in two locations.
The cracks were located at the Roadside South Mine over 9 West and 11 West. The
crack located over 9 West was evident across the top of a ridge for a distance of apprx.
200'. The crack was typically 3-6" wide and had a visible depth of 2-12". The shallow
depth indicated partial healing. The crack over 11 West was evident across the top of the
ridge for a distance of 35'. The 1-2" crack was visible in the surface shale but was not
visible in the sandstone.
1996 through 2001 Subsidence Reports
No evidence of subsidence was found.
