e) Major components of mining operation;
a. Roads/access routes = Not Applicable. There are no new roads or access routes as part
of this amendment.
b. Office/shop/maintenance buildings = Not Applicable. There are no new buildings to be
constructed as part of this amendment. A'snow-shed' (comprised of supports and
roofing only) will encapsulate the surface portion of the proposed milling operation
(dimensions of 60 ft long by 20' wide, and 15' tall), but was considered part of the
'processing facilities' described in item c below.
c. Processing facilities = the proposed milling facilities summarized in Figure C.I. As shown
within this Figure, several of the mill components will be outside on the surface, while
the majority will be housed underground. The two areas will be connected with use of
conveyor systems. The proposed outside components will occupy an area (shown on
Map A, EXHIBIT E) with the dimensions of 60 ft long by 20' wide, and 15' tall (18,000
cubic feet). These outside components will be located immediately adiacent to the
highwall adjacent to the upper portal. This location will afford these outside
components 'some' protection from snow slides, however in order to control any slides,
a snow-shed-roof will be built around the surface-mill components for protection.
d. Underground openings (adits, ventilation, secondary escape) = Not Applicable. There
are no new underground openings as a part of this amendment. Existing features
already permitted are shown within Exhibit E, Map E.1.
f) Dimensions of significant disturbances (mine benches, stockpiles, buildings) = The approximate
dimensions of the proposed mill components addressed within this amendment - on the surface
would be 60 feet long by 20 feet wide. The remaining significant surface disturbances
associated with the mine site have been previously documented within the existing permit.
g) Dimensions of existing or proposed roads = Nothing new is proposed as part of this amendment.
Existing roads have already been provided within the Technical Revision No. 1 documentation
(Castle, H., 1999) and approved by DRMS (DMG, 1999.
h) Amount of Water Use associated with the operation, and its source = Approximately 5 to 7
gallons per minute, supplied by water from the mine will be used by the mill features described
within this amendment (that is re-circulated back into the system). Water will be pumped up
from the lower underground workings when needed for the sluice box portion of the mill circuit.
Subgrade ore from the milling process will be stored in underground workings immediately
adjacent to the underground mill. Water decanted from the proposed subgrade repository will
be routed back into the ball mill.
