Colow has provided footnotes to the topsoil replacement depth g eneric cross-section
on amended pa 2.05-46. The footnotes describe three replacement zones for the post-
2007 reclamation in the ori permit area (West Pit), and four replacement zones for
the South Ta expansion area. The presentation is still somewhat confusin because
onl one cross-section is depicted, showin three replacement zones (which reflects the
West Pit plan, but not the South Ta plan). Also, the replacement thickness for South
Ta lower slope areas as described in the footnotes is va ("'up to potentially 3- feet"'). Additional clarification is warranted.
a) Please provide separate cross-sections for West Pit and South Ta soil
replacement depths. South Ta cross-section should depict two separate
replacement zones (upper and lower) for slopes g reater than 10%.
b) Please specif both a ran and avera thickness for the thick soil (lower V2
slope) replacement zone in the South Ta Area. Avera thickness for these thick
soil zones should be at least 30". Text and/or dia footnotes for South Ta
will need to specif that, within desi aspen and thick soil tall shrub
establishment areas, avera replacement thickness will be at least 48", re
of slope g rade ( refer to excerpt from CD OW letter on pa 2.05-49, which
Office of Office of
Mined Land Reclamation Denver • Grand j unction * Duran Active and Inactive Mines
