channel rock will need to be repaired. Hand labor is required to repair the channel.
CONTRACTOR must supply the laborer and any hand tools required to complete the
-task. Rock washed immediately downstream will need to be moved back on the
drainage channel. A trench shall be constructed perpendicular to the channel to a depth
of 3 feet deep, 2 feet wide and 15 feet long under the direction of the PROJECT
MANAGER. Rip rap ranging from 18 inches to 24 inches in diameter will be placed in the
trench. All remaining rock shall be placed in the channel to achieve the specification
noted in Drawing 1, Slope Drainage Course Cross Section and Plan View
Measurement and Payment
There will be no measurement for payment of Task 4, Drainage Channel Repair.
Payment for this Task will be reflected in a lump sum bid under Item 4 on the Bid
Schedule. This lump sum bid will cover all costs for drainage channel repair as
described in these specifications.
Task 5
Slope Scarification
The mine bench out slope and access roads will be hand scarified in order to disrupt the
slope surface, and to create small shelves and other areas for seed to germinate. Care
shall be taken not to disturb established shrubs or sustained patches of vegetation. See
Site Overview Plan Map for further detail.
Hand -crews will be used to create small benches or shelves on the out slopes. The
shelves will be ten inches (10 ") wide (perpendicular to the fall of the slope; on contour)
by approximately four inches (4 ") deep (cut into the slope) creating a backwall of
approximately four to six inches (4 " -6 ") in height. Each shelf must be constructed so that
the base is horizontal and flat. The benches will be created in an offset pattern from top
to bottom of the slope. Shelves will be no further than two feet (2') apart, from edge to
edge perpendicular to the fall of the slope (on contour), and no further than four feet (4')
apart as measured parallel to the fall of the slope. Crews must start at the top of the
slope crest, and work down slope.
Measurement and Payment
Scarified areas will be measured to the nearest 0.1 acre and paid at the unit price bid on
the Bid Schedule Item 5. The price bid shall include all costs for labor, materials,
equipment and all other items necessary for scarification as described in these
specifications. Payment for this task will be made only for the unit price shown under
Item 5 of the Bid Schedule. Payment shall be as this task is completed and approved
by the PROJECT MANAGER.
Task 6
Revegetation
The #2 Portal Backfilled Area and access roads scarified during completion of Task 5,
Slope Scarification, will be revegetated according to the Revegetation Requirements in
the General Bid Specifications Section 20.0, except as modified by these Special
Conditions. Approximately one (1.0) acre on the Fruita Mine will require revegetation.
The areas include the #2 Portal Backfilled area (0.60 acres), 3 segments of the access
road (0.30 acres) and the lower pond trench area (0.10 acres). All seed, fertilizer and
As of 01/08/09
