A rock chaLover
1 need to be installed over the repaired hole to deflect the water from the
intersection of thhe fill. The rock apron will be constructed using on-site rock material 18"
to in size. The rock apron shall be approximately 5 feet wide, 10 feet long and 3 feet deep
and keyed into the surrounding material to a depth of 2 feet on both sides of the apron.
Measurement and Payment
There will be no measurement for payment of Task 5, Portal Repair and Rock Apron
construction. Payment for this Task will be reflected in a lump sum bid under Item 5 on the Bid
Schedule. This lump sum bid will cover all costs for excavating, hauling, placing and
compacting the rock material as described in these specifications.
Task 6
Revegetation:
All areas disturbed during reclamation construction work and any other areas specified by
Project Manager will be revegetated. Contractor will supply fertilizer, mulch, labor and
equipment necessary for completion of this Task. Owner will supply seed.
The following requirements will be adhered to:
Fertilizer: Biosol Plus(7-3-3), or approved equivalent, will be added to all ground surfaces
disturbed during reclamation construction. This material will be applied in advance of seeding at
the rate of eight hundred(800)pounds per acre. It is estimated that 800 pounds of Biosol Plus or
approved equivalent will be required.
Seedbed Preparation: Seedbed preparation was accomplished as a result of Surface
Roughening operations. Surface roughening will be accomplished in the following manner:
- Two(2)tons of certified weed free mulch per acre will be applied to the ground surface.
Mulch will be provided by Contractor and must be certified as noxious weed free or noxious
weed seed free by an authorized State or County Officer. Documentation of certification must
be provided to Project Manager prior to application of mulch.
The mulch will be evenly distributed over the ground surface. Surface roughening will occur
simultaneously with distribution of the weed free mulch in order to prevent loss of the mulch due
to wind.
- Roughening, or scarification, of the surface using a track excavator bucket to create numerous
gouges in the ground will follow mulch application. The excavator will pull the ground surface
and mulch toward the machine in a manner that creates pockets twelve inches(12")deep, by
the excavator bucket width by approximately eighteen inches(18")long. These gouges must be
sufficiently close so that no more than eighteen inches(18")exists between the crest of one
gouge and the crest of an adjacent gouge, in any direction, both vertical and horizontal. This
spacing will result in a severely disrupted surface at the mine entry areas and the access road.
Revegetation efforts will occur on approximately one(1)acre, which includes all areas disturbed
during this project.
- 10-
