III. COMMENTS - COMPLIANCE
Colowyo C-1981-019
24 Mar 10 c
Pg 1/6
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations
made during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken
during the inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a complete inspection of the Colowyo Mine conducted by Jim Stark of
CDRMS. The inspection was conducted on 24 and 25 March 2010. Jennifer Sekulski-
Barton of CCC accompanied me on both days of the inspection. The weather was
cool and overcast and there was snow on the ground from snows the past weekend.
Several elevation points were taken during the inspection. The points were taken
with a Trimble GeoXT unit. The elevation readings on the GeoXT are not accurate
(varying by up to 40 feet) so the units error was checked at a known control point at
the site. The point used was station GT-10, which is the mine's primary control, as
shown on the Survey Control Map. GT-10 is located at 345837.477N, 1353688.196E (US
State Plane 1927, Colorado North, in US Survey Feet) at an elevation of 7389.000 feet
(Mean Sea Level, Geoid03). The following chart shows the Divisions readings at GT-
10, including the observed error. The elevation readings on the Trimble GeoXT are
approximately 15 feet higher than the actual elevation at GT-10. All elevations listed
in this report have been adjusted by subtracting 15 feet from the raw reading.
Colowyo GT-10 US Survey Feet
Northing 345837.477
Easting 1353688.196
Elevation 7389.000
DRMS
Northing 345834.048
Easting 1353700.58
Elevation 7403.792
Difference
Northing -3.429
Easting 12.384
Elevation 14.792
Elevation is M5L-Geoid03
- During the inspection the Colowyo Mine hand delivered the incompleteness
response for Permit Revision 03 (Collom).
