EXHIBIT H
WILDLIFE INFORMATION
Currently there are deer, elk, rabbits, and squirrels on the site. There will be
temporary loss of food and habitat during the mining phase. Post mining,
production for grazing animals will be substantially increased, particularly in the
previously wooded areas. Mining typically will not occur during the migration
season, so is not expected to interfere with migratory routes.
This site is not designated as critical lynx habitat. Steven Russell contacted
Chris Kloster (970-375-6747), CDOW biologist in Durango, by phone on
December 31, 2007. We specifically discussed lynx (he thinks the elevation is
too low for lynx). We also discussed southwest willow flycatcher (he said they
would only be a concern if there are willows and a live stream on the property.
told him there definitely were not willows in the proposed pit area.) Chris said
burrowing owls could be a concern if there were prairie dogs on the site. There
are no prairie dogs on the site.
Therefore, there are no threatened or endangered wildlife species of concern that
will be affected by the proposed gravel pit.
Page 13
