E-Train Expansion
The expansion of E-Train will also include an expansion of the ADR to enclose the newly
constructed E-Train. This entire expansion will occur directly above existing geosynthetic liner
containment beneath the ADR. The expanded E-Train will have a nominal capacity of 2,500
gallons per minute (gpm).
Initially, the existing E-Train, with a nominal capacity of 500 gpm, will be moved behind the
ADR. Once in-place, the smaller E-Train will resume operation until the larger E-train is
operational. Once the larger E-train is operational, the smaller E-train will be disabled and will
remain in-place behind the ADR, in a disabled state.
In-Line Barren Solution Booster Pumps
In-line booster pumps will be installed within the existing barren header lines on the VLF. These
pumps will relieve pressures and increase flows throughout the barren solution delivery network.
Enrichment Pump Improvements
Two additional enrichment pumps will be installed in the enriched solution lines leading from
the ADR to Phase V of the VLF, upon completion of construction of Phase V. These new pumps
will be enclosed in a pumphouse to be constructed behind the ADR. The new pumphouse
building and the enriched solution lines leading from the ADR, to the pump, and to the VLF will
all be placed on geosynthetic-lined containment that drains toward the VLF.
Enrichment Booster Tank
A tank will ultimately be installed on Phase V of the VLF. This tank will relieve pressures and
increase flows throughout the enrichment solution delivery network.
Modifications of Solution Flow Rates
Narrative in Section 7.0 - "Precious Metals Recovery Facility" within the Amendment No. 9 to
Permit M-1980-244 has been revised to reflect these minor modifications of solution flow rates.
Installation of an Auxiliary Caisson within Phase I of the VLF
The Pregnant Solution Storage Area ("PSSA") within Phase I of the VLF currently contains
three submersible pumps designed to convey pregnant solution to the ADR Facility. In the
interest of increasing operational response in an emergency condition-specifically an inoperable
pump situation - installation of an auxiliary caisson will add the ability to "drop in" a
submersible pump and ensure suitable pumping capacity. CC&V proposes to drill a 38 inch
diameter hole for the upper 40 feet of the well and a 29 inch diameter hole for depths between 40
and 205 feet. The hole will be cased and will have a screened interval in the bottom from 165 to
205 feet in order to facilitate pumping. This auxiliary hole and caisson will be constructed near
the existing battery of three caissons. A spare 250 hp submersible pump will be utilized in the
