2. When the mud pit is sufficiently dry, it will be filled with stored subsoil material and
• compacted to minimize any settling. All remaining subsoil will be redistributed on and
around the drill pad with a backhoe and /or bulldozer to achieve as closely as possible, the
original contour of the site.
3. The following alternative sediment control measures will be used for drill pads: slash, silt
fence, erosion control blankets, or straw wattles. Tab PR -14 of Volume 11 of the permit
application contains SEDCAD analyses for the typical drill sites of the following sizes: 0.25,
0.5, 1.0, and 2.0 acres. These SEDCAD analyses demonstrate that the alternative sediment
control measures will meet the requirements of DRMS Rules 4.05.2(3) and 4.05.5. Tab PR-
14 of Volume 11 of the permit application also contains slope stability analysis for the
drillpad mudpits that demonstrates the mudpits will meet the minimum 1.3 safety factor
requirement of DRMS Rule 4.05.9(8)(b).
4. Stored topsoil will be distributed as evenly as possible over the disturbed pad area.
5. The entire drill pad area will be re- seeded using the following seed mix, which has been
approved by the USFS for drill sites in this area.
PAONIA RANGER DISTRICT SEED MIX
160,000
Habitat Type Grass Species Mix
Seeds /lb.
Lbs. /Acre
P/J Woodland Galleta
159,000
5lbs /A
Western Wheatgrass
126,000
5lbs /A
Great Basin Wildrye
100,000
5lbs /A
Indian Ricegrass
141,000
5lbs /A
• Cicer Milkvetch
145,000
l lbs /A
211bs /A
Mountain Shrub Mountain Brome
90,000
51bs /A
Prairie Junegrass
2,315,400
41bs /A
Western Wheatgrass
126,000
61bs /A
Indian Ricegrass
188,000
41bs /A
Cicer Milkvetch
145,000
1lb /A
201bs /A
Aspen/Spruce /Fir Slender Wheatgrass
160,000
3lbs /A
Mountain Brome
90,000
61bs /A
Canby Bluegrass
926,000
31bs /A
Idaho Fescue
450,000
2lbs /A
20lbs /A
This seed will be 99 percent pure live seed (PLS) and hand broadcast at a rate of 30 pounds per
acre.
5. After seeding, the cleared brush will be redistributed over the drill pad area to act as natural
mulch. This method has proven successful for the revegetation of previous drill sites.
6. Newly created access roads will be restored as closely as possible to the original contour and
• re- seeded as above. Drill pads and access roads will be reclaimed shortly after the
completion of the drill hole.
11
