$ackfilling and Soil Stabilization
• All areas affected by the surface facilities within the permit area
will be returned to a final surface configuration that closely
resembles the land surface prior to mining. This configuration
will conform to the drainage pattern of the surrounding terrain.
The pre-mining topography is shown on the Vegetation Map (Map 3).
The anticipated post-mining topography is shown on the Existing And
Final Contours And Sections Map (Map 12). Post-mining cross
sections are also shown on (Map 12).
Because the mining operation will be on-going for many years, as
much reclamation work as practical will be implemented during the
initial construction. The Operator will conduct construction and
mining in a manner that minimizes erosion and water pollution.
Sedimentation control structures such as a pond and diversion ditch
will be built prior to the other facilities. At the conclusion of
mining, all surface facilities and structures, except the office,
will be removed and the area will be backfilled or graded.
• The final grading in all areas before topsoil placement will be
done along the contour, unless site specific slope conditions would
cause a safety hazard to the operator. The final surface
configuration will approximate the overall pre-mining topography.
Following grading, all disturbed areas will blend in with the
undisturbed areas outside the limit of the disturbed area.
Portal Areas. Because the planned location for the Bear No. 3
Portals has been previously affected by past mining, only slight
alterations will be necessary by the Operator in order to prepare
the site for planned mining.
l J
2.05-33 Rev. 04-30-93
