In addition, <br />they will be fitted with caps to prevent introduction of foreign objects, other than <br />monitoring and sampling equipment, into the well. When groundwater monitoring wells <br />are no longer needed or required for any purpose, each well will be sealed in accordance <br />with the measures described above. <br />Removal of Surface Structures <br />Embankment and Impoundments. All embankments and impoundments will be <br />completely removed and reclaimed after the termination of mining activities. The <br />sedimentation pond will not be removed until the affected area serviced by the pond has <br />been restored, vegetation requirements met, the quality of the drainage entering the pond <br />meets applicable Federal and State water qualify requirements and the removal of the <br />pond is authorized by the Division. Upon removal of the sediment pond and diversion <br />ditches, the affected land will be regraded and revegetated in a manner similar to the <br />proposed revegetation plan described below. <br />Mine Facilities. At the completion of mining operations, the portal complexes, shop <br />warehouse complex, office, the coal handling plant, and other related surface facilities will <br />• be removed. The sites will then be graded, topsoiled and revegetated in accordance with <br />the procedures set forth in this section. <br />At the conclusion of mining, all salvageable mining equipment will be sold as used <br />equipment or sold to a local scrap dealer. No mining machinery will be merely <br />abandoned by the Operator. <br />The portal facilities will be completely removed at the conclusion of mining.
