R - I S i Mining a.e is e tion
y
oZ-
Summary
The following summarizes the analytical results from `solids' (waste rock, ore and tailings)
samples gathered from the Ruby Trust Mine Site. These samples were collected (in 2oo8 by
Charlie Ponchak, and 2oo9 by Karmen King) in fulfillment of the request by the Division of
Reclamation, Mining and Safety (DRMS) to collect samples for `synthetic precipitation and
leachate procedural' (SPLP) analysis. SPLP analysis partially determines whether the materials
exhibit hazardous/toxic character. If the Ruby Trust solids materials demonstrate hazardous
character (defined as the ability to leach acid rock characteristics and/or produce leachate
containing hazardous levels of toxic metals) then the mine site may be deemed suitable to be
listed as a `Designated Mining Operation' (DMO) as per the definitions set forth within the
Mineral Rules (6.4.20 MLRB, 2006). The SPLP analysis serves to determine if metals will leach
from the solids under `typical' leaching conditions. Additional analysis beyond the SPLP
analysis was conducted in order to determine whether the materials yield acid generating
character. These additional analysis were completed on the samples collected in 2oo9 and
included the analysis of `acid base accounting' (ABA) parameters, paste pH, buffering capacity
and forms of sulfur (S).
This document presents the results of the 2oo8 and 2oo9 sample analysis. This document also
provides a description of the data interpretation methods, and conclusions regarding the results.
Copies of the raw data from the laboratories (Envirochem for the 2oo8 samples, ACZ for the
2oo9) are provided in Attachment A.
1?Page
