6.4.4 Exhibit D
Mining Plan
MacKenzie Pit
March 5, 2010
The MacKenzie Pit target gravel deposit lies within the Kim-Cascajo complex. The deposit is
approximately eight to ten feet above the graded industrial surface. The primary commodities
are sand and gravel used in construction and production of asphalt and concrete. The mine
operates year round Monday thru Saturday from sunrise to sunset. This is a dry mining
operation.
Using loaders, motor graders, haul trucks and bulldozer, mining will continue along the north
and northeast active face proceeding southward and day lighting at Highway 115 to the south.
Mining will maintain perimeter 3:1 slope and will grade the pit floor concurrent with mining to
blend with the existing industrial site floor and stormwater management structures.
Mine development will depend on economic demand but will precede two to three acres at a
time. Material will be extracted and processed in the existing processing facility or asphalt and
concrete plants on the industrial site. The expected life of the mine is approximately 10 years.
Explosives will not be used in mining.
Stormwater will be conveyed to the storm drains and sediment basin constructed on the
industrial site. Temporary berms and diversion ditches will be constructed as needed to convey
stormwater as needed. Final grading will develop the site to allow appropriate and effective
stormwater management.
