Annual Report - 2009 <br />Climax Mine Reclamation Activities <br />Permit No. M-77-493 <br />2.3 2009 DRMS Inspection(s) <br />Mr. Allen Sorenson inspected Climax on two separate occasions. On January 1, 2009 an <br />inspection was conducted to discuss the shutdown of the Climax 2010 Project and to inspect the <br />2008 construction projects in the Climax Camp area. On October 21, 2009 an inspection was <br />conducted to continue tracking the orderly return of the mine to care and maintenance status, <br />pipeline installation and the columbine ditch project. <br />2.4 Topsoil <br />Topsoil salvage and placement activities at the Climax Mine continued throughout the year as in <br />the past. The Climax Mine 2009 Reclamation Report is included as Attachment 1. <br />2.5 Weed Control <br />Weed control activities at the Climax Mine continued throughout the year as in the past. The <br />Integrated Pest Management Report is included as Attachment 3. <br />2.6 Well Monitoring <br />Ground water well monitoring data for 2009 is presented in Attachment 4. <br />3.0 Anticipated 2010 Activities <br />Activities scheduled at Climax for 2010 include: <br />• Mayflower Clearpond cleanout, cutoff wall and spillway raise. The soil has been <br />migrating into the pumps and increasing maintenance requirements. <br />• Install Mayflower Clearpond dewatering pumps in order to clean out the lower cearpond, <br />a pumping system will be required for installation in the upper clearponds to divert seep <br />water back to treatment while the work is being performed. <br />• Install Chalk Interceptor Pipeline beneath power lines. Approximately 400' of the Chalk <br />Interceptor is beneath power lines and will be put into a pipeline. <br />Page 2 of 2
