The maps attached
to this annual report show the activities conducted in 2009.
1.0 Primary Activities
1.1 Reclamation Activities
A number of new and maintenance related reclamation activities were performed in 2009. The
Climax Mine 2009 Reclamation Report is included as Attachment 1.
2.0 Other Activities
2.1 Biosolids
Biosolids production activities at the Climax Mine continued throughout the year. The Climax
Mine 2009 Reclamation Report and Climax Mine Biosolids Reporting 2009 are included as
Attachments 1 and 2, respectively.
2.2 Dust Control
Annual dust control activities continued in 2009 as in past years.
Road Dust Control
Magnesium chloride was applied to the haul road from the Domestic Water plant to the
Biosolids area on 1-Dam in 2009. Water trucks were routed to the area of application and
water applied prior to application to improve performance. The application controlled
dust in the areas where it was applied during the summer construction season. There were
minimal requirements for additional water application following the initial treatment.
A Safety Kleen dust control product was applied to Cofferdam Road and the leading from
the Gate House to 5 Shaft with limited success. Subsequent water applications were made
throughout the season.
Tailing Dust Control Summary
• Cement-mulch fiber dust control product was applied to the crest area of 3 Dam, beach
areas that were accessible, the former North Sludge Holding Cell area and the 2 Dam
lime sediment storage area. This product has a proven track record at Climax and is
anticipated to last at least 3 years in these areas.
Page 1. of 2
