17. Plant Growth Medium (Soils)
The soil types and boundaries for the area are shown on Map I-1 and described in detail in
Appendix D. Within the permit area, much of the ground has abundant bedrock outcrop and
minimal soil which is classified as Gladel-Bond-Rock outcrop. The BLM approved seed mix is
suitable for this soil and reclamation should not be problematic.
18. Wildlife Protection
The unlined water detention ponds at the Last Chance Mine area rarely contain any water. The
ponds surface capacities are less than 0.01 acre each and mining activity is expected to deter
wildlife from using the water on a frequent basis. Approved fences will be constructed around
the ponds and the slopes will be at least 2:1, H:V.
19. Disposal of Ore Pad Material and Sludge in Mine Workings
The ore pad area will be over excavated and either hauled to an approved disposal site, or placed
in the abandoned Last Chance Mine which would then be sealed and fully reclaimed. No sludge
will be generated by this mining and drilling operation.
Last Chance Mine - April 2009 T-7
