(b) Surface water quality and flow data have not been collected for the ephemeral swales
and washes draining the mine site. Any flow is of short duration for a few days each year, if at
all.
12. Water Quality Monitoring Plan
Any groundwater found in the monitoring holes constructed by Nuvemco will be sampled and
analyzed on a quarterly basis for five successive calendar quarters. In November 2009 Nuvemco
permitted the boreholes as monitoring wells. If significant water gathers in the Last Chance Pit
detention ponds, beyond that utilized for dust mitigation, it will be sampled and analyzed.
Nuvemco does have Storm Water Permit # COR-040241 from the Water Quality Control
Division, Colorado Dept. of Public Health & Environment for the Last Chance Mine.
13. Climate Data
Exhibit K describes the climate in the Permit area. Water balance is not expected to be a. concern
given the small area of mining and water retention. No stored chemicals or fluid containers are
present to be impacted by freezing temperatures. As tabulated in Exhibit K the average
maximum daily temperatures are well above freezing and evaporation rates are about four times
greater than the precipitation. The Last Chance Mine Permit area ranges from about 6300 to
6500 feet of elevation. Site specific wind data is not available, but the prevailing winds are
generally from west to east.
14. Geochemical Data and Analysis
The operations on the Last Chance Mine site are in an area where the native outcrops and rocks
contain low grade to high grade uranium ore at the surface throughout the Uravan Mineral Belt.
Easily accessed and higher grade ores have generally been discovered and some mining activity
has occurred at these sites. Chemical analyses of the ore and waste rock have been obtained and
included in Appendix B.
15. Construction Schedule Information
As described in the reclamation section Exhibit E, minimal soil and vegetation exists in the mine
area. The mine and most of the area to be impacted is on exposed bedrock or existing roads and
trails. The soils are described in detail in Exhibit I and Appendix D.
16. Quality Assurance and Quality Control Program and Measures
A licensed professional engineer experienced in construction of detention ponds, embankments,
etc., designed the sediment trap/ponds for construction in the Last Chance Mine area and will
provide QA/QC services as needed.
Last Chance Mine - April 2009 T-6
