The column that is bolded shows the pounds Pure Live Seed for each
species that is needed to be applied for each acre.
The seed will be accompanied by an official seed analysis report that provides documentation to
show no noxious weed seed per Colorado State weed law and no more than 0.5% other weed
seed. The seed documents will be one of the following, a certified Blue Tag, an independent
seed lab test, or a seed lab analysis supplied by the vendor.
Weed surveys were conducted in October 2008 and May 2009 as described in Appendix F -
Plants and Wildlife and shown on Map I-1 - Soils and Noxious Weeds. Best management
practices will be observed to minimize the occurrence and spread of noxious weeds including:
Weed surveys will be made of the permit area each spring
If noxious weeds are identified, they will be sprayed with methods and chemicals
approved by the weed control staff of Montrose County and the BLM.
After reclamation, weed surveys and spraying will continue until the perennial cover and
production of the site have met State requirements and the bond release has been
obtained.
Re-vegetation Success Criteria. The pre-mine site is a highly disturbed area dominated by
pinyon/juniper/sage species with undergrowth of grasses and forbs. As seen in the aerial
photographic base maps and on numerous photographs taken in the area, at least 40% of the
ground is barren rock or established roads and trails. Based upon this reconnaissance of the area
it is recommended that the post-mining vegetation standard include more grasses, forbs and
shrubs with a similar 40% cover.
Last Chance Mine - April 2009 E-4
