III. COMMENTS - COMPLIANCE
Williams Fork Mines C-198 -044
9 February 201 aF7D
Pg2/3
Hydrologic Balance (cont.): - Sediment Ponds 5-P1 and 5-P2, just north of the
warehouse/shop building, were both covered with snow but appeared to be dry at
the time of the inspection. No erosional problems were noted on the pond
embankments.
- Sediment Ponds SH-P1 and SH-P2, by the old farm shop (just above the 5A portals),
were both covered with snow but appeared to be dry at the time of the inspection.
Both embankments appeared to be stable. No erosional problems were noted on
either pond embankment. There was a downed power line in the area of these
ponds and BTUEC was performing repair work at the time of the inspection.
- Sediment Pond 5A-Pl, just below the 5A portals, was covered with snow but
appeared to be dry at the time of the inspection. The pond embankment appeared
to be stable. No erosional problems were noted on the pond embankment at the
time of the inspection.
- Sediment Ponds 9-P1 and 9-P6, by the solid waste disposal area, were both covered
with snow but appeared to be dry at the time of the inspection. These ponds collect
the runoff from the solid waste disposal area and the adjacent reclaimed refuse pile.
Both pond embankments appeared to be stable and no erosional problems were
noted on either of the pond embankments.
Backfilling and Grading: - The backfilled #4 Mine portal remains stable. There was a
small amount of snow on this southeast facing slope at the time of the inspection.
There is no noticeable settling or cracking of the backfill. There were no erosional
problems noted on the backfilled slope.
- The solid waste disposal area was covered with snow but remains stable. There was
no settling noticed in the fill material (which is covering demolition debris) and no
erosional problems were noted. There was a small dozer slot cut in the area for the
disposal of a small amount of additional debris. It is assumed that this will be
backfilled immediately upon filling the slot with the debris.
Processing Waste: - The refuse pile by the solid waste disposal area that was covered,
topsoiled and reseeded this summer was covered with snow but appeared to remain
stable. The area is well graded and drains to the adjacent sediment ponds (9-P1 and
9-P6). There was no standing water on the pile and no erosional problems were
noted.
