Castle is asking that we be allowed to attempt to stabilize the material below the
southern scarp so that the geotechnical investigation could be started which will allow for the
formulation of the amended mining and reclamation plan. This plan is scheduled to be submitted
to the Division in May of 2010.
DOCUMENTS: Included are a couple of photos and document files depicting the quarry and
specifically, the area of the quarry that is most important to the blasting and monitoring plan.
Photo 1: Pikeview Quarry with the measurements from the blast area to
pertinent structures included in the monitoring plan
Document 1: Detailed blasting plan as provided by Rod Schuch from Buckley
Powder Company
Photo 2: Location of the new prisms installed to meet the Colorado
Geological Survey recommendations to the DRMS for monitoring
west of the existing scarps
Document 2: PreSeis Tek Brochure
BACKGROUND: After submission of the technical revision the DRMS responded with their
adequacy letter outlining requirements and recommendations they would like to see implemented
prior to the approval of the technical revision.
