summarize historical activities and conditions, and determine possible
impacts to groundwater from CKD disposal on-site.
• The analyte list should be comprised of, at a minimum, the same suite as
the historical data submitted. Focus of this groundwater sampling will be
on the inorganic analytes and standards as contained in CDPHE
Regulation 41 - Basic Standards for Groundwater - Tables 1-4. Sampling
protocols, analyses, and MDLs should be selected accordingly.
• Radiologic analysis may be limited to gross alpha and beta.
• The following parameters will not be necessary: biologics, phenol,
chlorophenol, color, corrosivity, foaming agents, asbestos, and odor.
• The existing monitoring wells should be properly purged at least once
prior to sampling to insure representative samples as they have been
inactive for quite some time.
• Field parameters consisting of at least pH, temperature, conductivity and
static water levels in the wells should be collected and reported for all
sampling events.
If the level of contaminants in groundwater is shown to be below applicable benchmark
levels, monitoring may be reduced or discontinued. If groundwater is shown to be
impacted above applicable benchmarks, additional monitoring, plume delineation, and
perhaps remedial actions may be required to release the site in accordance with 3.17 of
the Construction Materials Rule.
If you have any questions, please contact me at (303) 866-4069.
Sincerely,
?;W- X/-
Eric Scott
Environmental Protection Specialist
Cc: Tony Waldron, Senior Environmental Protection Specialist
