Technical Revision No. 53, Monitoring Well and Dewatering Well, Adequacy Review <br />Dear Mr. Bear: <br />The Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety (Division) has finished its adequacy review of <br />Bowie Resources LLC's (BRL) submittal of Technical Revision No. 53 (TR-53) for the Bowie No. 2 Mine. <br />The following are the Division's questions and comments: <br />Section 2.03.6. Right of Entry and Operation Information <br />Please provide the appropriate documentation that demonstrates that the USDA-Forest Service <br />approves of this project. <br />Section 2.04.4. Cultural and Historic Resource Information <br />2. The Division understands that BRL is working with the USDA-Forest Service to determine if <br />cultural resource site 5DT1326 might be impacted by the activities proposed in TR-53. Please <br />inform the Division in writing as to the results of this determination. <br />Section 2.05.6. Mitigation of the Impacts of Mining Operations <br />3. In the January 10, 2008 cover letter, it is stated that BRL intends to move the CDPS discharge <br />point from the ventilation shaft site to the dewatering well discharge point. Please submit a copy of <br />the amended NPDES permit when it has been obtained. <br />4. In the January 10, 2008 cover letter, BRL states that the mine water will not need to be treated <br />before discharge. Please revise the permit application to include a description and the details of the <br />water monitoring program that will be used to confirm this. <br />Please provide well completion diagrams when the drill holes have been completed. <br />6. Please provide a more detailed description of the TR-53 project on permit application page 2.05- <br />351. Please include methods that will be used to control erosion at the discharge outlet in Hubbard <br />Creek. Also, please incorporate the information contained in the January 10 cover letter for TR-53 <br />(which includes the plan for handling the discharge water) into the permit application. <br />Office of <br />Office of <br />Mined Land Reclamation Denver • Grand Junction • Durango Active and Inactive Mines
