Box U www.co.nres.usda.gov <br />Akron, CO 80720 <br />Date: February 1, 2010 <br />From: Duane Peck, Soil Conservation Technician <br />Subject: Reclamation Plan for the State of Colorado Land Board Pit <br />Approximately 33 acres located in the N2, N2 NW4 and NW4, NW4 NE4 36 5N 49W 6`" PM <br />Washington County, CO. <br />INTRODUCTION <br />The following reclamation plan is for the above described site to be used for construction <br />gravel in maintaining county roads. <br />The approximate elevation ranges from 4095 feet in the Rock Creek stream bed to 4145 in the <br />SW corner of the site. From the USGS Topography Map 1972 Lone Star Quadrangle <br />Colorado. <br />Rock Creek that passes through this site is an intermittent drainage way that starts in <br />section 3 6N 51 W Logan County, CO. and ends in section 2 4N 48W Yuma County, CO. <br />Information found with the USGS Topography Maps 1970s. <br />A site visit of the area was completed 1/12/2010. The North half of the site was mostly covered <br />with windblown silt and snow from an adjacent field due to high winds. An inventory of <br />vegetation was taken with the following species noted. Prairie sandreed, Western wheat, Blue <br />grama, Sand dropseed, Smooth brome, Little bluestem, Needle-and-thread, Sedges, Annual <br />buckwheat Louisiana sagewort, Fringed sage, Three awn, Yucca, Plains prickly pear cactus, <br />Salsify, Sunflower, Mares tail, and Downy brome. <br />Land slopes checked ranged from 0-2% on the North flatter area, 2-4% across areas along the <br />South border and 8-10% from the stream bed to the top of the adjacent ridges. <br />No designated wetlands are noted on the site, nor should mining affect wetlands outside of the <br />area. <br />The site is presently used as grazed range. To the west is cropland enrolled in CRP. <br />Northwest, North, East and South of the site is crop land presently. There is a house <br />approximately '/ mile north of the west side and a gravel pit to the north on the east side. <br />Climate information from the Major Land Resource Area (H 72) see attached, lists the annual <br />precipitation to be from 14" to 18" and the average number of days above 32 degrees F. to be <br />140 to 160 days. <br />Helping People Help the Land ( ?l <br />An Equal Opportunity Provider and Employer
