NATURAL DISASTERS
Natural disasters should all be reported initially to the appropriate County
Sheriff s office for their dispatching of appropriate response services and for their
coordination. After reporting, take and follow all instructions from the Sheriff or his
designated representatives.
See the above list of contact telephone numbers for the Sheriffs office in the
county in- which the event has occurred. Given the location of most activities associated
with quarry operations, the primary contact for the most rapid response should be through
the Garfield County Sheriff.
1. PRIMARY CONTACT
Garfield County Communication Center: 911 or 970-945-9798
2. COUNTY EMERGENCY SERVICES COORDINATORS
Note: The following contacts will not normally be made by Sierra
personnel. They will be contacted by the appropriate sheriff s office or through
the above primary contact, the Garfield County Communication Center.
Gunnison County Emergency Services Coordinator:
911 or 970-641-2481
Pitkin County Emergency Services Coordinator: 911 or 970-920-5310
Garfield County Emergency Management Director:
911 or 970-945-9798
3. Other contacts with state authorities can be made, but ONLY if contact cannot
be made with the local sheriffs office or emergency services coordinator.
State Division of Disasters and Emergency Services: 303-279-8855
Camp George West
Golden, Colorado
Note: If more than one call is placed to report a natural disaster, always indicate
which agencies have already been called. Once the initial call(s) have been made,
Off the Telephone or Radio unless telephone use is absolutely necessary to maintain
open communication.
11
