(NSI) received your letter regarding the adequacy of our submitted
technical revision. Included in this response are clarifications of the noted issues.
1: The access road disturbance was briefly noted in the Technical Revision's,
attached Table 1. Daub and Associates, Inc. (D&A) calculated an access surface
disturbance to be approximately 2.29 acres (see Table 1 on page 3 of this letter for
calculations). NSI will only be drilling four of the seven proposed holes,
therefore not all of the proposed accesses will be needed. The actual surface
disturbance (-1.35 acres) at-project completion should be substantially less than
calculated total (2.29 acres).
2: The purpose of NSI's coring project is to further define the nahcolite/halite
facies beneath their lease. The future use of each core hole and completion
construction will be dependent on the amount of nahcolite in the Boies Bed
observed in the core in the field from each hole. Flexibility in the drilling order is
therefore required for the success of this drilling and well completion program.
3: Four aquifers (Uinta, A-Groove, B-Groove, and Dissolution Surface) will be
penetrated. All well locations are located down gradient of any active mining.
During coring, the aquifers will be protected by a temporary steel liner installed to
SPECIALIZING IN PROFESSIONAL GEOLOGICAL, ENVIRONMENTAL, HYDROLOGICAL, GEOTECHNICAL AND PERMITTING SERVICES
Page 1 of 3
