As shown in Table A5, the site has a moderate distribution of perennial grasses and perennial
forbs, which should improve with time. The site has an extensive production and cover of annual
grass and weedy forbs, which are competing with desirable plant species. It is likely that the
amount of weedy species will decline over time, but may extend the time necessary for the site to
reach reclamation goals and requirements. The most notable observation on the site is the lack of
any shrub establishment. It is likely that the reclamation goal and requirement for shrubs may not
occur without additional seeding such as interseeding.
The following statements compare the values measured in 2009 for Well Pads 93-44 and 4A-4V
to the reclamation goals/requirements:
• The production of perennial grasses is 51.4 percent and production of perennial forbs is
122 percent of that on native rangeland. Both below the requirement of being equal for
successful reclamation.
• The cover of all perennial herbaceous species is 41.6 percent of that on native rangeland;
substantially below the requirement of being equal of that measured on native rangeland.
• The composition of perennial forbs exceeds that of native rangeland by 24.4 percent;
substantially greater than the required 4 percent of that measured on native rangeland.
• The composition of shrubs is zero substantially below the required 12 percent of that
measured on native rangeland.
The only reclamation goals/requirements being met at this time is the production, cover and
composition of perennial forbs, which all currently exceed the requirements. It is likely the site
will achieve the requirements of production, cover and composition for perennial grasses within
a few years without additional reclamation efforts. However, the site will not likely achieve the
requirements for the production, composition and cover of perennial shrubs without additional
reclamation.
Well pads 93-3V and 4-2V: The ground cover data in Table 6-17 is summarized by class of
vegetation and cover type from data presented by plant species or cover type in Table A6. The
biomass production data and species composition data presented in Table 6-18 is summarized by
type of vegetation for each plant species as shown in Table A6.
The following tables compare the data collected in 2009 for well pad site 93-3V and 4-2V to data
collected from nearby native rangelands in 2009.
2009 Annual Report 24 of 33,
