Both
cover and production of perennial grasses continues to exceed that of native rangelands.
Production values of perennial forbs and shrubs remain below that on native rangeland.
Reductions in cover and production of annual grasses and weedy forbs continued in 2009. Cover
of shrubs increased 14.2 percent from levels recorded in 2008 but remains below levels
measured for native rangelands in 2009.
The following statements compare the values measured in 2009 for Well Pad 4-3H to the
reclamation goals/requirements:
• The production of perennial grasses is 14.8 percent greater than that measured on native
rangeland. The production of perennial forbs is 94 percent of that measured on native
rangeland. Perennial grasses are exceeding the requirement of being equal for successful
reclamation while perennial fortis are very close to the requirement.
The cover of all perennial herbaceous species exceeds that of native rangeland by 10.3
percent exceeding the requirement of being equal of that measured on native rangeland.
The cover of perennial grasses decreased 9.1 percent in 2009 but remains 15.4 percent
above that measured on native rangeland in 2009. The cover of perennial forbs increased
15.0 percent in 2009 and is 38.2 percent above that measured on native rangeland in
2009.
• The composition of perennial forbs is 91.5 percent of that on native rangeland in 2009;
substantially greater than the required 4 percent of that measured on native rangeland.
• The composition of shrubs is 88.9 percent of that on native rangeland in 2009;
substantially greater than the required 12 percent of that measured on native rangeland.
All the reclamation goals/requirements are being met or exceeded at this site with the exception
of production of perennial forbs, which is very near the goal/requirement.
Newly Reclaimed Sites:
2009 Annual Report 22 of 33
