(10) All mined material will be handled in such a manner so as to prevent any unauthorized
pollutants to the surface drainage system. The sand and gravel stockpiles will be located and
arranged to avoid any uncontrolled runoff of stormwater from this site. Earthen Berms will be used
to keep storm water from going off site. Along with this prevent measure a Storm Water
Management Plan will be implemented.
(11) No groundwater pollutants will be released at this site. This mine is a high and dry area, and
the deposit is sand and gravel with no known pollutants. No ground water will be exposed during
mining.
3.1.6 Water - General Requirements
(1) The hydrology and water quality of this site will not be adversely affected by this operation.
No groundwater will be encountered during mining, and the surface changes shall be controlled and
monitored to minimize the affects on the historical stormwater runoff patterns. A Colorado Health
Dept. and Environmental Storm Water Permit will be obtained for this site.
(a) The operator/applicant will comply with Colorado water quality laws and regulations
governing injury to existing water rights.
(b) The operator/applicant will comply with applicable Federal and Colorado water quality
laws and regulations, including all the standards adopted by the State Water Quality Control
Commission.
(c) No dredge of streambeds will be done, and the fill areas will not injure the water quality
nor restrict historical flow.
(d) Some earthen structures will remain that were used to control stormwater after mining.
Reclamation requires no structures eg. dams or ponds.
(2) No dams will be constructed on this mine site.
(3) All surface areas of the affected land, including spoil piles, will be stabilized and protected so as
to effectively control erosion.
3.1.7 Groundwater - Specific Requirements
(1) This area is high and dry. No groundwater will be exposed during mining. There are no
permits contemplated or needed.
(a) The statewide groundwater standards will be followed as established by the Water
Quality Control Commission (hereafter, the WQCC).
