STATE OF COLORADO
DIVISION OF RECLAMATION, MINING AND SAFETY
Department of Natural Resources
1313 Sherman St., Room 215
Denver, Colorado 80203
Phone: (303) 866-3567
FAX: (303) 832-8106
INTEROFFICE
MEMORANDUM
TO: Joe Dudash
FROM: Jim Stark
SUBJECT: Bowie No. 2 Mine TR-66 Cost Estimate
DATE: 8 January 2010
COLORADO
D IV IS I ON Of
RECLAMATION
MINING
SAFETY
Bill Ritter, Jr.
Governor
Harris D. Sherman
Executive Director
Ronald W. Cattany
Division Director
Natural Resource Trustee
Attached is the reclamation cost estimate for the Bowie No. 2 Mine's Technical Revision
66 - Terror Creek Vent Shaft and associated structures. The estimate is six tasks (a
summary sheet and tasks 221-225) and represents an increase in liability of
$208,818.00. This increase is slightly less than the estimated liability of $225,324.00
submitted by BRL. The main reason for this difference is the fact that BRL used a
different diameter for the poured-in-place concrete cap for the vent shaft (a diameter
larger than the one used by the Division). As always, we will use the Division's
estimated liability on the coding form.
If there are any changes to the plans as a result of the adequacy review please let me
know, as a recalculation of the liability may be warranted. Please let me know if you
have any questions regarding this estimate or need any additional information.
cc: Sandy Brown w/out Attachments
Office of Office of
Mined Land Reclamation Denver • Grand Junction • Durango Active and Inactive Mines
