Processing Waste
The face of the waste pile at King I appeared in good shape, although snow cover limited inspection.
The operator's representative explained that the face was seeded before snow fall.
Support Facilities
King I - There was no activity at King I other than at the office. Fuel tanks in the surface facilities
area showed no signs of leaks or spills, and have adequate spill barriers in place.
King II - Earthwork for the surface facilities area of this new mine began in March 2007. Most of the
surface earthwork (roads, ditches, etc.) has been completed. Buildings in the office/bathhouse
/warehouse area remain under construction. Four portals have been developed at King II. Several
loads of coal were hauled away in tractor-trailer rigs during the inspection. The truck-scale area was in
full operation.
General Mine Plan Compliance
The operator appeared to be in compliance with the mine plan.
Photo 1- King I.
