///. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE <br />Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made during <br />the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection and the <br />facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action. <br />This was a complete inspection conducted by Tom Kaldenbach of the Colorado Division of Reclamation, <br />Mining and Safety. James Counts represented the operator. With the operator's consent, this report was <br />issued from the Denver office of DRMS. <br />The four portals of the King I Mine have been sealed with a shot-crete type of material a short distance <br />into each portal from the surface opening. Mining was active at the King II Mine in the second section <br />west of the entries leading from the portals. Areas other that had not been plowed were covered with <br />more than one foot of snow. Selected photos taken during the inspection are provided at the end of this <br />report. <br />Availability of Records <br />The results of the records check are shown on the attached list. All required records were available. <br />Sims and Markers <br />King I - Mine i.d. signs and affected area markers were properly displayed. <br />King II - A mine i.d. sign was on display at the mine's entrance on County Road 120. <br />Roads <br />King I - The mine entrance haul road was well maintained. <br />King II - The haul/access road was well maintained. <br />Hydrologic Balance <br />King I Ponds - The east and west ponds were frozen and covered with snow and at most contained <br />small pools of water several feet below the principal spillway discharge elevations. Sediment level <br />markers (marked staffs) were in place. Embankments, inslopes, and spillways appeared in good <br />condition, although snow cover limited inspection. The operator's representative explained that the <br />embankment outslope of the west pond was seeded before snow fall. <br />King II Pond - The pond was covered with snow, but appeared to not contain water. The pond <br />embankment, inslopes, and spillway structure appeared in good condition, although snow cover limited <br />inspection.
