2. Mining Timetable
The following table (Table D -2) is a best estimate of the sequence of operations for the life of the
mine and is based on mining and selling an amount of 30,000 tons per year.
Table D -2 Morfitt Pit Mining Sequence
The mining schedule is planned to minimize disturbance by reclaiming areas as additional mining
is undertaken. This table is based on a reasonable projection of average production rates. The table
shows that mining will occur over approximately 16.0 years. This timeline is based on the
maximum annual production of 30,000 tons of gravel. Shale mining will not be a determining
factor in production or mine life.
Korinek 41 Pit August 09 D -4
Length of time to
Task
Comments
complete months
1
Phase 1 topsoil stripping, reclamation of the western
2.0
slope of the existing pit.
2
Mine phase 1, strip topsoil and overburden from
14.4
hase 2.
3
Mine phase 2, strip topsoil and overburden from
18.1
phase 3, and reclaim phase 1.
4
Mine phase 3, strip topsoil and overburden from
33.2
p hase 3, and reclaim phase 2.
5
Mine phase 4, strip topsoil and overburden from
29.0
p hase 5, and reclaim phase 3.
6
Mine phase 5, strip topsoil and overburden from
7.2
phase 6, and reclaim phase 4.
7
Mine phase 6, strip topsoil and overburden from
14.9
p hase 7, and reclaim phase 5.
8
Mine phase 7, strip topsoil and overburden from
25.7
p hase 8, and reclaim phase 6.
9
Mine phase 8, strip topsoil and overburden from
27.3
p hase 9, and reclaim phase 7.
10
Mine phase 9, and reclaim phase 8.
19.8
11
Reclaim phase 9 and remainder of pre -law mine site
2.0
on the east side of the permit.
12
Reclaim scrapyard and facilities areas.
1.0
Total months
192.6
Total (years)
16.1
The mining schedule is planned to minimize disturbance by reclaiming areas as additional mining
is undertaken.
