October 2004 -32- 043 -2170
6.1.3.2 Seaming Observations
• Golder ersonnel observed seams before, during and after welding. Golder checked each seam for
p g g
a
adequate overlap prior to seaming and to verify that the seam area was clean and dry. Golder also
verified seam competence and channel aperture (by inspection of a hand cut coupon) at the end of
each seam welded.
Golder documented Poly -Flex personnel performing the seaming and the seaming equipment used.
Following the completion of seaming and routine repairs, Golder checked the full length of each seam
to verify that no additional repairs were required. In the event that additional repairs were needed,
Golder marked the location requiring repair on the geomembrane, documented the location, and
brought the repair area to the attention of Poly -Flex. Once Poly -Flex made repairs, Golder checked
the repair location to verify completion per the project specifications. Golder inspected all seams for
quality and completion. Golder personnel conducted a final walk - through to verify completion of the
entire geomembrane system and to identify any additional damage that may have occurred during
construction operations.
• Golder recorded observations made during seaming. The fusion- welding summary is presented in
Appendix K -5, and the extrusion- welding summary is presented in Appendix K -6.
6. l .4 Defect and Repair Observations
Golder inspected geomembrane panels for damage that may have occurred during manufacture,
transport, deployment, or installation as discussed in Section 6.1. Golder repeatedly observed all
panels and seams for defects until Ames covered the geomembrane with DCF.
Golder documented defects by assigning a unique defect identification code to each defect, and
marking each defect code on the geomembrane. The summary of defects, repairs, and
non - destructive testing of repairs, including the approximate location of each repair is presented in
Appendix K -7.
•
1 : WVC 4 0WCeri.
