Reve etation Success Criteria
The criterion revegetation for evaluation of success for the approved post - mining land use is
g
vegetation cover. This vegetation cover must be sufficient to control erosion. Based on
sampling at other mines sites in the area and the pre - mining vegetation studies, a revegetation
cover standard was established.
The following will be the revegetation success criteria for the Carbon Junction Mine:
Vegetation Cover
Vegetation cover of the reclaimed area will be successful when vegetation cover is 40 percent
with 90 percent statistical confidence.
Herbaceous Production
There is no herbaceous production revegetation success standard.
Woody Plant Densitv
There is no woody plant density revegetation success standard.
S12ecies Composition
There is no species composition revegetation success standard.
Solid Waste Disposal
All solid waste (non -coal wastes), e.g., lumber, unusable machinery, and waste building
materials, was or will be removed from the mine site and disposed of in an approved land fill or
recycling facility.
Mine Openings
There will be no mine openings that require sealing. All exploration holes will be plugged in
accordance with 4.07. All water or monitoring wells will be plugged in accordance with 4.07 or
transferred to the post- mining surface owner who will be responsible for their maintenance and
permitting as necessary.
Dry drill holes will have all cuttings backfilled. An expandable plug will be forced into the hole
to a depth of ten feet. A standard sack of cement will be mixed with water and poured into the
hole. The upper three feet will be filled with soil. Wet drill holes ( +1 gpm flow) and monitor
0
Abridged Permit Document 5-29 Feb 2008
