Jared Dains Page 3
South Platte Combined Replacement Plan
December 21, 2009
Street Pit, and Tucson Pit. Depletions resulting from evaporation and past pumping depletions at
these sites are replaced under this plan.
Mining at the Tucson South Pit and Tull Pit have not yet commenced and it is not
anticipated that mining will begin during this plan period.
Mining and reclamation of the Teti Pit is complete leaving exposed ground water requiring a
permanent plan for augmentation. Aggregate filed an application with the water court for a
permanent plan of augmentation under case no. 2007CW198. Until such time as a decree is
entered in that case, Aggregate will replace depletions from the Teti Pit under this SWSP.
Mining at the Platte Valley Pit was completed in 2006. The site has filled with ground water
and as mining progresses across the river at the Wattenberg Pit, Aggregate will backfill the Platte
Valley Pit with fines produced from the Wattenberg Pit. Ultimately the entire site will be backfilled.
Due to recent backf illing of the site, the exposed surface area has been updated to 76.3 acres.
Aggregate does not anticipate actively mining the Wattenberg Pit in 2010. The exposed
surface area at the Wattenberg Pit has been updated based on a recent aerial photo and consists
of 16 acres. Depletions resulting from evaporation will be replaced under this SWSP.
Mining of the North Dahlia Pit is complete and Aggregate has backfilled a portion of the
existing lake leaving approximately 3.5 acres of exposed ground water at the site. Aggregate
amended the water court application for a plan for augmentation in case no. 2007CW198 to include
the remaining 3.5 acres exposed at the North Dahlia Pit. Until such time as a decree is entered in
that case, Aggregate will replace depletions from the North Dahlia Pit under this SWSP.
The Jeronimus Pit is complete and Aggregate is currently filling in the lake at the site with
fines from the Hazeltine Pit. Ultimately the entire site will be backfilled.
Aggregate has completed mining at the F- Street Pit and is in the process of reclaiming the
site. The dewatering pumps were turned off in 2008 and the post pumping depletions associated
with that activity was accounted for in the 2008 and 2009 SWSPs and will continue to be accounted
for in this SWSP. The exposed surface area at the F- Street Pit has been updated based on recent
aerial photo. Reclamation irrigation is expected to continue in 2010. Aggregate is working with the
landowner and expects to transition the land back him within the next two years after the
reclamation is complete.
The East 8 th Street Pit was not mined last year as planned and Aggregate does not
anticipate to actively mine the site in 2010. Due to lack of mining activity the dewatering ceased
after February 2009,, therefore the water use at the East 8 th Street Pit in 2010 will include post
pumping dewatering depletions and evaporation from exposed ground water. The exposed surface
area at the East 8 th Street has been updated to 5 acres.
Aggregate does not anticipate to actively mine the Tucson Pit in 2010. Dewatering at the
Tucson Pit began in early 2009 in order to complete sloping work. The dewatering is expected to
continue at an estimated rate of 1,300 gallons per minute through May 2010, after which the
dewatering pumps will be shut -off and the pit will fill. The total exposed surface area after sloping is
completed is estimated at 4 acres. The water use at the Tucson Pit in 2010 will include dewatering,
pond filling, evaporation from exposed groundwater and dust control. A total fill volume of 60 acre-
