amEc
Earth 8 Environmental
E) Overburden to Stockpile
1) VLF
No work performed during the week.
F) Cult to Fill
1) VLF
Snow from the weekend snowfall was removed from all fill areas prior to any placement. Prior
to structural fill placement, existing fill temperature were monitored and to be or above 33 °F.
Ambient were monitored on an hourly basis, by an AMEC representative during fill placement.
Fill temperatures averaged approximately 33 °F during the period of time the ambient
temperature was below 32 °F.
Structural fill (processed ore) was placed within the Phase IV VLF, between stations G12 +00
( + / -) and G29 +00 ( + / -), approximately 75 to 150 feet left of centerline. Fill material (processed
ore) was excavated from the SE corner of Phase IV area using a CAT 375 excavator loading
the material into 40 -ton articulating haul trucks. Structural fill was placed using a CAT D -8
dozer and a CAT D -6 LGP (low ground pressure) dozer in 12" loose lifts and moisture
conditioned as needed using a CAT 773 water truck. Compaction was achieved using a 10 -ton
vibratory smooth drum compactor. Nuclear density testing was performed with results
averaging 95% of maximum dry density. Moisture density relations were obtained in
accordance with ASTM D698 -07.
Structural fill was placed in the following areas: Downstream toe, between stations D0 +50
( + / -) and D4 +00 ( + / -), approximately 0 to 50 feet right and left of centerline. Fill material was
excavated between stations E15 +00 ( + / -) and E17 +50 ( + / -), approximately 0 to 50 feet right of
centerline using one CAT 385 excavator loading the material into CAT 777 haul trucks.
Structural fill was placed between stations 132 +00 ( + / -) and 134 +00 ( + / -) and between stations
F 1 +50 ( + / -) and 3 +50 ( + / -), left and right of both centerlines 0 to 100 -feet. Spreading and
keying the fill in loose lifts using a CAT D -8 dozer and a CAT D -9 Dozer. A CAT 385
excavator and a John Deere 850 excavator was used to excavate structural fill material between
stations E15 +00 ( + / -) and E16 +50 ( + / -), approximately 0 to 50 feet right of centerline and
between stations G8 +00 ( + / -) and G10 +00 ( + / -), 200( + / -) feet left of centerline. Additional cut
was excavated from the NW quadrant of "Substation Hill" (previously "shot" area). The
structural fill material was loaded into CAT 777 haul trucks. Compaction was achieved using a
CAT 10 -ton vibratory smooth drum compactor passing over the entire fill surface a minimum
of 4- passes (method compaction technique is applicable).
Blast pattern drilling was performed in the following areas: Between stations H5 +00 ( + / -) and
H7 +00 ( + / -), approximately 20 to 50 feet right of centerline: N. W. quadrant and S. W.
quadrant of "Substation Hill" using three track mounted drill rigs. Blasting was performed in
these areas Tuesday (11/17/2009), Wednesday (11/18/2009), and Thursday (11/19/2009).
VLF Weekly Report WE 11.21.09.D.doc
