amen
Earth 8 Environmental
The installed and existing geomembrane at the Phase IVa re- certification area was inspected by
CC &V, Ames, Lonestar, and AMEC representatives. The geomembrane was found to be
acceptable for drain cover fill placement.
C) Phase IVc Re- certification Geomembrane Installation
Geomembrane deployment at the Phase IVc re- certification was performed replacing the existing
geomembrane designated in the Re- certification Memo. The subgrade surface was inspected and
found to be acceptable prior to each panel deployment. Density, permeability, moisture, and depth
testing was performed previously in the area (11/3/2009). Six panels of 100 mil single sided
textured geomembrane were deployed for an approximate total square footage of 3,096. Two
fusion trial seams were performed during the deployment of geomembrane with passing results.
Nineteen seams were fusion welded for an approximate total of 409 linear feet. Two destructive
test samples were marked during fusion seaming and tested with passing results. Twenty three
seam pressure tests were performed with passing results. Twenty nine repairs were made using the
extrusion welding method. Three extrusion trail welds were performed during repair activities with
passing results. Vacuum testing of all repairs was performed with passing results. AMEC
representatives were present at all times during geomembrane installation activities.
The installed and existing geomembrane at the Phase IVc re- certification area was inspected by
CC &V, Ames, Lonestar, and AMEC representatives. The geomembrane was found to be
acceptable for drain cover fill placement.
VII) VLF Drain Cover Fill
A) Phase IVa Geomembrane Re- certification Area
Drain cover fill placement was performed over the accepted area of geomembrane at the Phase IVc
re- certification. Drain cover fill was hauled from the stockpile just east of the old substation site
using two 40 -ton articulating haul trucks loaded by a CAT 375 excavator. The drain cover fill was
placed using a CAT 330 excavator to cast the material over the liner. Drain cover fill placement
was also performed using a CAT D -6 LGP (low ground pressure) dozer when access to the area
was established. A minimum if 2 feet of cover was placed over the geomembrane. An AMEC
representative observed the placement constantly.
B) Phase IVc Geomembrane Re- certification Area
Drain cover fill placement was performed over the accepted area of geomembrane at the Phase IVc
re- certification. Drain cover fill was hauled from the stockpile just east of the old substation site
using two 40 -ton articulating haul trucks loaded by a CAT 375 excavator. The drain cover fill was
placed using a CAT 330 excavator to cast the material over the liner. A minimum if 2 feet of cover
was placed over the geomembrane. This placement was performed to support the slope to the
north, allowing the removal of the support buttress to west. Drain cover fill was placed only on the
eastern portion of the re- certification area. An AMEC representative observed the placement
constantly.
VLF Weekly Report WE 11.14.09.D.doc
