180 days. To date, disturbed acreage has ranged from 0.0 to 0.64 acres annually while the reclaimed <br />acreage has ranged from 0.0 to 0.82 acres annually. The contemporaneous reclamation practice keeps the <br />net disturbed acreage between 0.00 and 0.82 acres. Contemporaneous reclamation will be continued onto <br />the USFS lands. <br />Storm water from the harvesting area will be directed through a series of check dams in a ditch and silt <br />fence prior to discharge onto the talus slope. If the harvesting uncovers more talus slope material only, <br />then no sediment control is anticipated as this condition represents the historic drainage condition. No <br />impoundment or detention facilities are needed. <br />Topsoil or plant growth medium is exposed in the talus slop in small areas under trees and shrubs. To <br />date insufficient topsoil has been encountered to warrant stockpiling. Some topsoil material has shown <br />during the grading of the slopes. These areas have been seeded and mulched. If no plant growth medium <br />material is encountered, the remaining rock surfaces will be graded to match the natural slope or a 2:1 <br />H: V which ever is flatter. The USFS is requiring that the harvested area be regraded only. The larger <br />trees, plus 12" diameter will be left in place to enhance the post mining land use. <br />The current weed control plan of inspection and spot spraying of weeds will continue per the attached <br />letter from Gunnison County. On the USFS lands, the weed control plan will be supplemented by the <br />weed control practices that are in accordance with the WRNF Invasive Plant Species Management EA <br />(FS2007). Preventative action will include cleaning of vehicles and equipment prior to bringing them into <br />the project area. <br />The harvesting area is located at elevation 8,000 which is approximately 190 feet above the Crystal River. <br />The harvesting operation is not expected to encounter any ground water. No impacts to existing water <br />rights are anticipated because no water is required for the operation. <br />No refuse and acid toxic producing materials are present in the talus slope. No explosives are used in the <br />harvesting activities. Equipment will be fueled from tanks mounted in the back of pick-up trucks. No <br />storage of fuel in tanks on site is anticipated. <br />The primary commodity to be harvested is the angular and moss rock on the talus slope. No secondary <br />commodities are present on the talus slope. The primary product is building stone. <br />Revised: 12/2/09
