6.4.5 Exhibit E — Reclamation Plan
Seeding and Fertilizing
The current vegetation type on the site is pasture and hayfields dominated by
smooth brome (Bromopsis inermis). Hay is harvested from the fields 3 or 4 times
each year starting in early June. Restoration will consist of seeding all disturbed
areas within the permit area excluding areas within the normal pool elevation of
the ponds and the site access road. The recommended seeding method is by
drill, and seeding rates assume this method.
Table 2
Species
Rate
Native or
Wet or
Cool
Cost
Cost per acre
(Variety)
pls /acre
Introduced
Season
per pis
Ibs /acre
Thickspike
acre
acres)
Diammonium Phosphate
250
$0.55
wheatgrass
8.0 to 10.0
Native
Cool
$11.70
$93.60- 1.17.00
(Critana)
P 2 O5 with 18 -21 %N)
Sideoats .
grama
5.0 to 7.0
Native
Warm
$7.25
$36.25 -50.75
(Vaughn)
Switchgrass
(Nebraska=
4.0 to 6.0
Native
Warm
$5.00
$20.00 -30.00
20)
Alfalfa
3.0 to 5.0
Introduced
N/A
$1.90
$5.70 -9.50
(Nomad)
Based on Table 2, an application rate of roughly 20.0 to 28.0 pounds live seed
(pls) per acre will be used. Topsoil should be disked prior to seeding.. Fertilizer is
recommended for the reclamation process. A standard application of fertilizer will
be used at a rate of 250 Ibs /acre as shown in Table 3:
Table 3
The total area to be seeded is approximately 37 acres. The total area to be
fertilized is 37 acres.
