Ditches and culverts around the site were found in functional condition. One area of
drainage that should be maintained in the near future is along the RDA conveyor. While this
area reports directly to pond 8, some rills and gullies have developed due to runoff from the
conveyor corridor (see above photo).
Availability of Records
The public copy of the mine records is in the process of being moved to the offices of New
Elk Coal Company at 122 West First Street, Trinidad CO, 81082, 719 - 845 -0090. At the time
of the inspection, most of the records were at the office of Peak Project Management (PPM).
The contact, address, and phone number for PPM is Ron Thompson, Peak Project
Management, 34115 County Road 20.8, Trinidad, CO 81082, 719 - 846 -4975. All records
were found in compliance as detailed on page 2a of this report.
Support Facilities
In accordance with Rule 4.07.1(1)(c), the operator established orange fencing around the
over -steep slopes of the slope excavation at the West Mine. This fencing will ensure the
safety of people, livestock, and wildlife during the limited time that this excavation remains
open.
Wn
e
a
yy.
