• Section 4.6 provides details on methods. Such transplants will have the added benefit of using native
species and genotypes of plants for revegetation. This will be a valuable source of difficult to obtain
native species.
Tables 3.6-7, 3.6-8, and 3.6-9 list the preferred species for reestablishing on each range site occurring
within the proposed mine permit area. The proposed species mixes favor grasses and forbs. At a mini-
mum, 14 herbaceous plant species will be seeded and/or transplanted within each range site to be
revegetated. The total number of genera and species to be reseeded are based generally on the domi-
nant species determined by the diversity index for each range site (Section 2.3). A comparison of the
species mixes in Tables 3.6-7, 3.6-98 and 3.6-9, and the diversity Tables 2.3-15 through 2.3-20 will show
that Trapper Mine species mixes are more diverse than what existed prior to mining. Such an approach
is necessary since one may not predict precisely how reseeded species on reclaimed mined land will
react over time. By March 15 of each year, the Division will be provided with the proposed species list to
be seeded that year according to range site or area of use. This is necessary since seed availability on
a year-by-year basis varies.
Not less than 30 PLS per square foot will be seeded 9 drilled or 45 PLS per square foot if broadcast
seeded.
Range Site B
• For revegetation purposes, range site B is mountain shrub type below 7200 feet and above 6700 feet in
elevation. The species mix for this range site is presented in Table 3.6-7. During the permit period,
select species continued in Table 3.6-7 will be seeded and/or transplanted within the described approxi-
mate elevation range. Generally, all seeding will be accomplished in the fall of the year. Spring seeding
may be used for drainageways, cropland areas and transplants may be planted fall through spring.
Introduced species found in the species mix for range site B are fairway crested wheatgrass, Agropvron
cristatum; pubescent wheatgrass, A. trichophorum;
3-127 'EVISION APPPOV D
D ;TE '?
