Box 60340
Grand Junction, CO 81506
Table 3.T-3
Subject: Reclamation plan for the McLain Canyon Mine
Dear Mr. Stover:
Page 1
P.O. Box 190, 2727 Grand Avenue
Grand Junction, Colorado 81502-0190
(970) 242-0040 • FAX (970) 242-0612
www.gvp.org
Enclosed is a map showing the Grand Valley Power distribution line located at the
McLain Canyon Mine. If the mine were to be reclaimed, Grand Valley Power would
install additional guys and anchors on Pole 341 in order to dead end the existing
J conductors and remove the conductors and poles from pole 342 to mine substation near
pole 348. The existing line that continues past the mine, shown as poles -.4 and -1 on
the map, would remain in place to serve customers north of the mine.
The distribution line that is located in Munger Gulch is not owned by Grand Valley
Power. We assume that this line is owned by the mine and the line could be removed
by the mine. Coordination with Grand Valley Power will be required where the line taps
off of the mainline since the mainline will be energized.
You also inquired whether the Grand Valley Power distribution line located on the mine
property was constructed to prevent raptor electrocutions. Most of the line was
constructed to These standards wi.en it was built. Grand Valley Power viii review-the
pose installations on your property and make any modifications necessary as a part of
our Avian Protection Plan. Please provide a map showing the boundaries so that we
can identify which poles to review.
If you have any questions, please contact me.
Sincerely,
C', ~~ <-y
3,
Steve Don
Manager of Engineering
• Your Coop -Committed to Service
GRAND VALLEY RURAL POWER LINES, INC.
