WATER INFORMATION EXHIBIT G
1. Surface Water General Discussion
The surface water features within and near the permit area include several small unnamed
drainages, a small stock pond and irrigation ditches, as shown on Map C-1. The most significant
surface water is produced from the irrigation activities to the west.
2. Water Rights
The landowner has a well and irrigation water from a ditch, which may be partially used for the
operation. If this water is not available, water will be trucked from an offsite source.
3. Hydrology and Sediment Control for Mining
The terrain slopes from the west to the east to the main drainage east of the mine site. The
general plan allows undisturbed surface flow to either flow around the site or to pass through the
site in two grass lined drainage channels that are isolated from the pit drainage. These drainage
channels lead to permanent grouted channels on the steep slope of the backfilled gullies. Water
will then flow into the natural drainages below. The culvert and channel designs are shown in
Exhibit D - Mining Plan. Water from the disturbed area will be held and allowed to infiltrate.
Once the Center Pivot Field is reclaimed, ditches will be installed that take the excess irrigation
water and stormwater from that field and divert it to the irrigated pasture on the reclaimed pit
floor.
4. Groundwater
This operation has not encountered groundwater and does not expect to in the future. If ground
water is encountered, this area will be backfilled and the base of mining will remain one foor
above the water table.
There will be sanitation facilities on site but there will not be a leach field. All sanitary waste
will be stored in a holding tank and hauled off site periodically.
Cugnini Pit, November 2009 G-1
