RECLAMATION PLAN
1. General Reclamation Plan
EXHIBIT E
The total disturbed area of the permit is approximately 108.57 acres of the total permit area of
122.29 acres. The distribution of the reclaimed land uses is outlined in Table E-1 Reclamation
Acreage.
Table E-1 Reclamation Acreage
Land Use Area acres
Reclaimed Rangeland 14.43
Reclaimed Irrigated Pasture 93.29
Access Road 0.85
Undisturbed Rangeland 13.72
Total 122.29
Reclamation will be conducted as new areas are disturbed throughout the year. This will most
likely happen in small increments a few times per year, with overburden being placed in the
previously excavated side slopes of the pit. See Map F for details. Overburden is expected to
vary between 15'-20' and will be used to create a center pivot field in the northern portion of the
pit and Valley Fill #2. The Valley Fill #1 is complete as of July 2008. The remaining overburden
and fines will be placed on the flat pit floor as subsoil. The side slopes will be reclaimed to
211:1 V to better blend into the surrounding landscape. Existing ditches protect these slopes from
stormwater running over them and causing erosion. The containment berm along the east side of
the permit will remain after mining to prevent stormwater and excess irrigation water from
running down the unprotected slope. Water encountered on the reclaimed pit floor will drain to
the grass lined channels and discharged through the grouted channels. Overall, the reclamation
of this site will improve the land use from rangeland in the pre-mine condition to irrigated
pasture.
Cugnini Pit, November 2009 E-1
