Tierra Piedra Ranch LLC
Tierra Piedra Gravel Pit
EXHIBIT "D"-RECLAMATION PLAN
Gravel pit to be reclaimed as a pond for wildlife habitat.
a. Overburden is minimal and therefore requires no stockpiles.
b. The maximum gradient of the reclaimed slopes will be 3:1. Sufficient material to
be reserved "in place" for construction of slopes. Some slopes along reclaimed
pond to be less than 3:1 to enhance wildlife features. The floor of pit to be left at
final grade as mining progresses.
c. Revegetation
i. Topsoil to be replaced to minimum thickness of 6" in areas outside of
reclaimed pond.
ii. Topsoil will be replaced over final graded areas (outside of reclaimed
pond) after completion of excavation activities. Reclaimed areas to be
scarified prior to replacement of topsoil. Seedbeds will be firm and
clean tilled.
iii. No shrubs or trees will be planted. Quantity and type of seed to be
recommended by NRCS.
iv. Topsoil will be disked and seeded per NRCS seed recommendations
for type and quantity.
V. No mulch should be necessary for reclamation.
d. The gravel pit will be reclaimed as a pond for wildlife habitat. Slopes of the
reclaimed pond will be 3:1. The shoreline of the pond will be irregularly shaped
so that it appears as a natural feature. The DOW has been contacted for
recommendations (copy of letter attached). All areas outside of the gravel pit will
be reclaimed/ revegetated.
e. A stable configuration or hydrologic balance will be achieved by 3:1 back sloping
of the pit faces on all sides. Surface water will infiltrate into the terrace alluvial
deposits at the edge of the pit and is presumed to flow into the Piedra River as
subsurface flows. Stormwater BMPs will be utilized to prevent any runoff from
affecting off-site locations. All areas outside of the reclaimed pond will be
reclaimed with a final grade slope of 0-1%.
2. Reclamation will occur concurrently and immediately after completion of
excavation activities.
a. 10 hours for reclamation of project area outside of gravel pit
i. Tractor, 10 hours @ $90/hour = $900.00
ii. Tractor/seed drill, 10 hours @ $95/hour = $950.00
iii. Seed mix for 1.3 acres= $100.00
b. 40 hours of bulldozer time to establish 3:1 slopes for pond
i. Bulldozer, 40 hours @ $90/hour = $3600.00
c. Total Estimated Reclamation Cost = $5550.00
