2
2. Access road construction and re-opening is limited to 4 new segments totaling no more than 300 ft x
20 ft.
3. Reclamation should be completed prior to the onset of winter conditions (frozen and/or snow
covered soils), and completed no later than June 1, 2010.
The following requirements shall continue to apply to your drilling project:
BLM Notification. The operator will contact Scott Gerwe at (970) 244-3077 48 hours before
surface-disturbing activities are initiated, and 48 hours prior to beginning site reclamation.
Bond. No surface-disturbing activities may commence until a performance bond is in place.
The required bond for BLM shall cover the cost of plugging and reclamation, as calculated by
the DRMS, and accepted by BLM. The adequacy of the bond will be periodically reviewed by
DRMS and BLM, and if necessary, the bond amount shall be adjusted to the revised cost
estimate.
Modifications. Any additional operations beyond that documented in your NOI shall require an
amended NOI to be filed with this office.
Surface Disturbance. Surface disturbance shall be kept to a minimum and limited to that which
is necessary to complete the drilling. For previously disturbed areas, no blading of roads or drill
pad construction is allowed, except for clearing of brush or minor upgrading where necessary.
Weeds. All equipment shall be clean, and weed and weed-seed free prior to moving the
equipment into the mine site. The operator shall monitor for noxious weed infestation and shall
control noxious weeds on the mine site as directed by the BLM. Herbicide or pesticide use shall
be approved by the BLM prior to any application.
Trash. Trash shall be contained at all times and removed to an authorized sanitary landfill. No
oil or other petroleum products shall be drained on the ground or vegetation. Burning of trash or
waste is not allowed.
Muddy Conditions. During wet weather conditions, no mud blading will be allowed. When road
conditions are such that vehicles create ruts deeper than 4 inches, drilling and vehicle activities
will be temporarily suspended.
Road Improvement. Refer to the attached map for road segments authorized for improvement
work to accommodate drill rig access. Roadway erosion controls, including waterbars, rolling
dips, ditches, and sumps, shall be installed as directed and/or required by the BLM.
Mud Pits. Drilling fluid shall be contained in tanks or a small pit. Mud pits must be dry or with
little standing water before they are backfilled. If fluids remain in the pit at completion of
drilling and the pit cannot be backfilled, the pit must be fenced off to keep all animals out until
dry enough to backfill.
