McCanne Ditch. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />thence northerly through Sections 31, 30 and through the <br />southwest quarter of Section 19; thence out of Section 19, <br />at about the east quarter corner thereof and into Section 20.• <br />The first lateral distributing its mater is in said Section <br />19 near said east quarter corner. Said Sections 31, 30, 19 <br />and 20 are all in Township 1, North, Range 66 ifest. An ad- <br />ditional claim by extension for this ditch to take water <br />directly out of the South Platte River was made in 1895, but <br />was abandoned the following year. <br />3. <br />The original size of this ditch was, at the point where <br />it becomes a carrier only and its gather section ceases: <br />8 feet wide on the bottom, depth of :rater carried 2 feet, <br />'grade 5 feet per mile, carrying capacity 20 cubic feet per <br />second. The 3athering section above this is of varying size <br />and grade, sufficient to accomplish drainage and to collect <br />at least 20 cubic feet of water per second. The ordinary and <br />customary amount accumulated up to the beginning of the carry- <br />ing section at the Boulder Valley Railroad branch is 10 cubic <br />feet per second. This amount is reduced, by seepage and <br />carriage to the first lateral, to about 4 cubic feet per <br />second. <br />4. <br />Work of construction of this ditch was begun March <br />16, 1892. It was prosecuted with due diligence and was <br />completed and used for irriggation in 1893. Beginning with <br />the spring of 1894, and continuously every year since, <br />water.has been appliad by it to the lands at present irri- <br />Gated by it. Under claim and exercise of absolute posses- <br />sion and ownership, all the water Gathered and diverted by <br />this ditch sufficient for the needs of the lands it <br />75
