Phillips County Commissioners Minutes <br /> May 8, 2009 <br /> Present were County Commissioners Quentin "Bud" Bieserneieu- Chairman, Jerry Beavers, and Susan Roll <br /> Waiters and County Administrator Randy Schafer. <br /> The meeting opened at 9:00am. with the pledge of allegiance. <br /> The board approved accounts payable for April. <br /> The board met with Tom Wirges. He discussed the possibility of purchasing 20 acres from Mike Roll and <br /> putting three homes on the land. It is close to Frenchman Credo. The board will look at the site and get <br /> feedback to Tom in the near future. After an onsite visit, it is being referred to the Planning Commission. <br /> The board met with Doug Copley from the District Attorney's office. He gave an update of caseload and <br /> personnel in the DA's office. <br /> A motion was made by Jerry Beavers, second by Susan Roll Walters, to approve the minutes of April 30, 2009. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> A motion was made by Susan Roll Walters, second by Jerry Beavers, to approve the hiring Beau Waln as <br /> Landfill Operator. He will be placed on GN40 Grade I5, Step 1 at a salary of $23,518.58 per year ($1959.88 <br /> per month). He will be eligible for a step increase in 6 months with satisfactory performance. Motion Carried- <br /> A motion was made by Jerry Beavers, second by Susan Roll Waiters, to approve a six month step increase for <br /> Michael Grant, Court Security Officer. He will move to GN40 Grade 20, Step 3, effective May 12, 2009 at a <br /> salary of $28,229.61 per year ($2352.47 per month). He did receive a satisfactory performance approval. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> A motion was made by Susan Roll Walters, second by Jerry Beavers, to approve a two year step increase for <br /> Robert Patten, road worker in District #1. He will move to RB Grade 16, Step 5, effective May 1, 2009, at a <br /> salary of $27,583.23 per year ($2298.60 per month). He did receive a satisfactory performance appraisal. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> The Commissioners discussed the control of vendors during events on county property. Randy will poll other <br /> counties to see how they handle these issues. <br /> The board met with Sharon Michael, Account Clerk for Social Services, for regular monthly business. These <br /> minutes are maintained by the Department of Social Services. <br /> A motion was made by Jerry Beavers, second by Susan Roll Walters, to approve the ALSCO Contract for <br /> District # 2 for supplying shop towels and other miscellaneous items. Motion carried. <br /> The board met with new landfill manager Bill Andrews. He introduced the newly hired Landfill Operator Beau <br /> Wain. He indicated the State was down to look at our recycling grant project and was pleased with how things <br /> had progressed. <br /> Randy reported that the information has been submitted to finalize a contract for our CDOT Enhancement <br /> project at the Event Center. <br /> The board reviewed the Treasurer's Report for April. <br /> The board discussed the Courthouse heating system. Don Locke indicates that if we put in a steam boiler, it <br /> may be possible to put an individual control on each register. The board asked Randy to do additional research. <br /> The board met with Mike and Kasie Smith at the Event Center to look at carpet and paint samples, which have <br />r ?. been picked out by the various groups. We will begin to assess needs <br />and potential chan <br />es in the buildi <br /> g <br />ng. <br /> The Commissioners decided to pick up surplus items that did not sell on Wednesday at the fairgrounds. C L <br />, will advertise them for sale later in the spring or summer. <br />11 <br />4 <br />1 G The board received a request from Randy Weis and Yuma County Road and Bridge to waive the setback from <br /> County Road 16, which is a trail, for their mining application to 100'. <br />
